Pet Kare - Beware!

Hi guys...

We got this message the yesterday but didn't have time to share it with you.

It's a message from one of our Extended Family and we felt it important to pass his message on... It's serious stuff people...

TO ALL MY REPTILE FAMILY AND FRIENDS! PLEASE SHARE IF YOU AGREE!

I know I have dealers in my circle but hope you understand what I am saying...

On Sunday I went to:

The employee/manager on Sunday June 17th stated to me and my children that an advertised adult Beared Dragon was $79.95 but was willing to sell it at $50.00. I told him I would be back today to get it.

Upon my arrival I stated to an employee that I was quoted $50 for the Dragon. She called the manager to verify. He stated that was impossible and could not sell me the dragon for that price. I stated since I was quoted by the employee and I also purchased a Large Iguana that day for $50. That he should honor his price by the acting manager. He said that the employee was not authorised to make such discounts (but made the deal of selling me the iguana from $79.00 to $50.00)

What he would do is call the employee and confirm the transaction. Upon returning he stated that the employee said he made no statement/transaction with anyone.

I HATE TO BE CALLED A LIAR, MY CHILDREN WERE PRESENT, HEARD EVERYTHING AND WERE EXPECTING TO GET THE DRAGON TODAY.

I walked out irrateted and stated you have not heard the last of me!

The reason I write this is to show the unity the reptile community has and hope no one has the same experience. I shop there regularly and did not expect this treatment. I try to give my business to local merchants but will have a better experience with reputable dealers.

Again this happened at Pet Kare II, 250 Pencader Plaza, Newark, DE 19713, USA but it could happen to you anywhere!

We agree with you Red! And we're backing you all the way. It's the only way to show these people. Bogus quotes and bad customer service, people need to be aware of these things.

We hope you have managed to find another from a REPUTABLE DEALER unlike this store and that your kids are reptiling it up.

Has anyone else come across any reptile shops that they'd rather not step foot in again? We'd love to know and tell the world your story! Remember this happened in the USA and it's made it's way to the UK already! Let's get these shops treating people right and just!

  1. I completely agree!! Thats why hobby breeders like Critters and More are here!! To try to help stop the inflated prices and the bad treatment of pets and customers!!! ( that and we just love our pets to death!) Why start off having a pet with a bad experience, there is NO need of it

  2. I agree too (sorry I don't want to put my details) but I would not have that happen in my shop! If yuou had come to mine and that had happened (which it wouldn't) I think I would 1, apologise, 2, try and come to some sort of compromise maybe discount it as much as I can with some added extras to make you feel good and 3, fire the cocky employee who thought he was manager for the day. I'd wish no one to have that experience in my store, I'm also an independent dealer and always want my customers feeling great when they leave my shop. I think this Pet Kare shop need to sort themselves out as I don't even live in the USA and I've been told about this too (so had to come and check this out) Thanks for sharing!

  3. Thanks for all your support! I am presently working on getting two year old Bearded Dragons with a 55 gallon set up for $50 dollars. Hope I get it so I may surprise my children.

    1. No Problems Red, when a member of our Extended Family is treated like that by someone in the reptile industry it just makes us sick, especially when kids are involved. How are they doing? We hope you have loads of luck finding the right beardy for you and your kids :)

  4. It's best to get a deal lie that in writing. Maybe it was the employee's mistake but why should you suffer.

    1. That's a great idea, definitely something to do when the deal sounds too good to be true. In the UK, if you were to go back to the store with a signed deal or like some of their receipt paper they'd have to honor it or they'd be breaking the law... Now sure how it works in the US...
